In case anyone forgot, the August book was suggested by Lord Darkstorm - it is "The Forever War" by Joe Haldeman. It won the Hugo and Nebula Awards for Best Novel of the Year (1976). It deserved them.

This was different in ways from the books I usually read, but worth every minute as I forced myself not to rush through it.
