Not long ago I read ODD THOMAS by Dean Koontz and thoroughly enjoyed it. I did think it bogged down some in the middle, but the ending more than made up for it and took me by complete surprise. All-in-all, a better than average read.

So on to the next one, FOREVER ODD. Once again, it seemed to drag in the middle. Some of the plot twists were very predictable due to clues dropped early in the book, but I kept reading. After all, the first book landed a bombshell in my lap at the end that left me saying, "WOW!". I kept reading and looking for that spectacular ending like the first one. It never came. Everything wrapped up with no hidden surprises. What a disappointment.

In some respects, I wonder if this book was just to lead into the third book of the series, BROTHER ODD, because the ending led right into what the reader could look forward to in the next book. I already have BROTHER ODD and will be reading it sometime in the future, but FOREVER ODD just didn't live up to expectations.

One last note: I do think that Koontz puts too much info in than is needed for the story. He seems to have a habit of explaining things in way too much depth for my tastes. A couple of times he could have left out a page or two and still had a story.
