Very interesting. I think I like the annual subscription rate. Not as good as being free, but what is.

Congrats to EricJamesStone a fellow/former Hatracker and of course to Skadder for his upcoming story.

Its also good to see OSC back in it. I liked the early concept of a new Ender tale in every issue but that must have been a difficult pace to maintain.

One of the cool things they've been doing with InterGalactic Medicine Show is run topics about the writing of the stories that appear in the issues.

There is a discussion area for IGMS on the regular Hatrack forum, and the topics where the author of a story posts about writing it start with the issue number.

I'd recommend you all consider reading what they have to say, especially if you want to try to sell to IGMS. You don't have to be registered on the regular Hatrack forum to read there, by the way.

You can find the IGMS topics here .

Thanks, Kathleen.

For the advice and link. I saved it to my favorites.

Now all I have to do is find time to send a set of stories out. (rolls eyes upward)

As to Kathleen's advice. I read some of the posts written by the authors of various stories. Interesting and educational. Actually, it answered a couple of my questions that I placed on another thread.

But there are a couple of things the authors made me wonder about. First: they seem to be on a first name bases with the main editor and they make it sound like they were before they sent their stories in. Second: at least one said they sent it to Edmund, not to IGMS but to him. I may be just playing words games with myself but it makes me wonder if I'm missing something. The first name thing could have started after he communicated with them about their stories.

Third: At least two mentioned that he sent their story back with a note to fix a certain section. Does he do that often? With most of the stories they publish or just now and then?

I would have to say that editors probably only do that when the story is clearly publishable except for that one section, and the writing shows that the author is capable of fixing the one offending section.

For the most part, editors, being the busy people they are, are more likely to be interested in good stories that can be improved relatively easily than in great ideas that haven't been executed well.

Yeah, from what I hear that is normally true and from what was said, it was probably in these two cases. But I find it interesting that it happened twice in the same edition. So I wonder if Mr. Schubert might be a tad more willing to do that.

Which isn't to say that I expect him to take extra time with one of my stories, If IGMS does it like most pro markets he probably hasn't even seen one of my stories much less seriously consider one.

Hmmm, Have they speeded up their process? Last time I thought their speed increased but this time I checked, it has.

Or is it my writing they can reject faster?
