So J. K. Rowling looked for the freedom of anonymity and wrote a mystery novel under a pseudonym. Here's a link to a (short) news story about it:

...but it's been all over the mainstream media these past few days and there are longer news stories out there.

I don't have the link handy, but Nathan Bransford's take was interesting.

Good reviews, but it hadn't sold well at all--at least until this came out. Now . . .

I understand using pen names for branding. I understand what King did, wanting to know how he would do without his name attached.

I don't understand wanting to be "liberated."
