Well, I've finally transitioned from northern Japan to the one of it's most southern islands. I have to say it's absolutely beautiful and maybe now I can finally get back to writing soon. I still haven't managed to get into base housing here but that should be done by the end of the week.

For those who may be jealous, I was recently informed that I would be working 12 hour shifts at least 9 months out of the year so it's not all paradise. This place is still awesome though.

I am still a little jealous...although I don't work twelve hours a day in a hot kitchen anymore. If you happen to see a terraced hillside used to grow rice or any other crop, I would love a picture. I have been trying to find a good one to get a mental image for a story I am writing.

Congrats, Joseph. I hear Okinawa is pretty nice.

Bent - here's an image for you rice terraces

From a place called Banaue in the Philippines. It's pronounced "ban-AH-whey" Really beautiful, and I suspect what you're looking for. Really old, too.
