I posted this under "I submitted a poem" and didn't get any reaction. So I started a new thread here with the same post:

It took ten weeks to get a reply, but my poem THE BLUFF has been accepted for publication on cowboypoetry.com . It isn't listed yet, and I don't know how long before it will be. Soon, I hope. It'd been so long that I'd heard anything that I began to think they weren't interested. I have a few other poems waiting in the wings, and one other that I think would fit in much like THE BLUFF. So I'll probably submit it too.

Like I said; I don't get paid for my poems, but I have enjoyed writing them. A friend of mine said she thinks I'm a better poet that a writer! LOL Buuuutt she hasn't read any of my newer stories either. I've improved a whole lot since the one story of mine she read, mostly due to you fine people right here on Hatrack. Thanks again to you folks for all the help and support. I couldn't do it without you.

One more thing. By sure to tell us when it is listed. I hope that means it's published on that web site. If so tell us we we can read it.

I've been checking www.cowboypoetry.com everyday since they told me "The Bluff" had been accepted for publication. What a great feeling to find it's finally listed as of today. In some ways it's fitting since I just submitted another poem yesterday that I call "Second Thoughts". Hmmmm... that would make a good story title, wouldn't it? Anyway, if it takes as long as "The Bluff", I should hear whether "Second Thoughts" is accepted around the end of January 2011. Here we go again!

Since you're doing good with your poetry thought I would pass this along.

It's a contest for poems from Writer's Digest. Don't anything about it except what it says but I figured it couldn't hurt. There's another contest on ralan.com in the contest section. Just in case you might be interested.

Thanks for the link, LD, but I think I'll pass. If I'm reading the rules correctly, it sounds like they can print your poem wherever they please after you've won any of the prizes. I don't like that idea at all. I'd at least like to be able to say where and how my poem will appear since I wrote it.

I'd also have to come up with something other than the ones I've already wrote. Submissions cannot have been previously published or posted on any public forum online, and I've been posting all my poems on www.dailyequine.com .

But I'm not entering anything I write to be used in a way that I may not approve or have any control over. If not for that, I'd be very much tempted to enter. They offer some nice cash prizes among other things.

Crystal, I can see that. But there are smaller contests, less complicated, you can find on ralan.com and probably Duotrope's. Again if you are interested.
