My parents got a kitten when I was a high school sophomore, and one of my younger sisters named her Ila. Today, Ila passed away. She was 21 years old, and I feel like I've lost a member of the family. Rest in peace, sweet kitty.

Oh, dear. Please accept my condolences. You have lost a member of the family, just not a human member, and you have every right to grieve.

Hugs!

I would agree. My condolences.

I wept when I learned my dog, I had for over ten years, died and I was in collage.

Sorry. They are truly a part of the family, especially after 21 years.

My heart goes out to you, JH. Our proud cat of 16 years died last year in my wife's arms.

That must have been one impressive collage, LD. Ivy league, by chance?

Thank you, everyone. I'd never seen a cat live so long. In the last year or two, she's been just about toothless and had forgotten how to use the litter box. I know it's nothing like losing a human member of your family, but Ila will be missed.

Please accept my sympathies...
