As many of you know, I'm a horsewoman along with being a writer. Every year there's an Annual Ladies Ride that I like to attend held about 20 miles south of Bloomington, IN. Blackwell horse camp is located in the Charles Deam Wilderness Area and is some of the most beautiful places to trail ride in Indiana.

I would say the main event of the ride is a pitch-in dinner followed by a gift exchange and a time to let the other ladies know a bit about yourself. This is a well attended ride that averages around 50 to 70 ladies a year. No, we don't all ride together but go out in groups of 10 or less at our leasure. This year we had 70 to 80 participants due to the great weather.

So there we were introducing ourselves to each other near the picnic shelter all seated in our camp chairs in a huge circle. Introductions were well underway when the women across from me started whooping and hollering and standing up. Now what brought that on?

I craned my neck to look down the drive behind me and couldn't believe what I was seeing. It took awhile to sink in that a man was riding through camp. Nothing unusual about that... except for one little detail. All he wore was western boots and a baseball cap! I kid you not! He never slowed down, grinned for all of us, and waved an arm before riding on by. And believe me that there was more jiggling than just his buns!

Even though this was a Ladies Ride, we didn't have the camp to ourselves. Anyone could come in, camp, and ride. Several families were camping there, along with others, who weren't involved with the Ladies Ride. And I'm sure that this guy's riding companions probably dared him to do it.

You must also understand that streakers are rare in this neck-of-the-woods. Proof of that is this is the first time I'd ever seen one... anywhere! Regardless, this is one Ladies Ride that will go down in history.

I guess there'd be some chafing, too...

Not a doubt in my mind, Robert. And there's a reason why most of us ride in jeans. Western saddles can pinch the inside of your thighs with no trouble at all... even in shorts.

Yikes.

And I've never seen a streaker even though they are more numerous in this part of the country.

Hmmm, I think there is a very interesting title in there somewhere.

I also guess you couldn't say, "Who was that masked man?" if he just wore Western boots and a baseball cap...
