I thought I'd share with everyone that got my first rejection today from a semi-pro 'zine. I'm more excited about it than disappointed. If nothing else, it's at least a confimation that I am officially trying. I'm sure it will be at the bottom of a pretty tall stack by this time next year, but we all have to start somewhere.

Feel free to share your rejections and feelings, too, if you like.

Good writing!

Congratulations!

That first rejection is something to celebrate. We all have them, and you're right, it means you're on the path.

May you have many more! (And sales, too, of course. [Big Grin] )

Keep it up, BoldWriter! I have two rejections, and I felt the same way you did - they reflect the fact that I at least tried. Of course, I submitted the story without really vetting it, so now I need to rework it before I feel confident again. But...I'm trying!

It's bound to happen. I lost count along the way, but I must have well over a thousand rejections by now.

They say rejections are the paving stones on the path to eventual acceptance---but don't go by me.
