The door to the tavern opens up quickly, yet you don't see anything but a shadow pass briefly over the threshold. You see a chair in the darkest corner of the tavern being pulled out and seemingly sat in. You swear that you almost see someone sitting there, but it's almost as though the person is a part of the shadows.

Oh, hello. I see you found me. Quite impressive, you must not be like the others. I have been following Them for over three cycles and no one's found me in all of that time. Occasionally I'll talk to one of my brothers or sisters, but not often, their presence could tip me off to them. Anyway, you may ask me your questions if you must, but I'd ask you to keep your voice down, I don't want to attract too much attention.

What are you? Where did you come from? What is your name? Tell us a little of your story.

I am the one who watches silently from the shadows. The silent observer. I have many names across countless cultures. Though to most I am known as Zila Vanori, goddess of shadows. My home is the Plane, though it has been many eons since I have been there. I am charged with the observation of the one known as Brameer the Betrayer, which is why I am here as a matter of fact. He is the small boy sitting across the room. Do not be fooled by his appearance though. I assure you they are not to be trifled with.

That's an awfully big title for such a small boy. Who did he betray? And how? Was it them? For that matter, who ARE they?

Goddess of shadows, well met.

Are you frightened of this Brameer? And you a god? How do you sit and watch as he tortures a young boy? How can you do nothing?
You are there and in a position to help him, yet you watch, waiting. For what? What are you waiting for?

Are you a coward, do you have no power than to hide?

Are you no more than a secretary to this Brameer's evil. You are helping him by doing nothing, you know that, don't you?

You are afraid, you are hiding. You are no god. Go back to your Plane, if you be so frightened.

Do you have any ability to fight for those who cannot?

Or do you admire this Brameer? Do you wish to be his queen?

Is your body so ugly, that you must hide it in the shadows?

The boy's name is Ryel, it is Brameer that inhabits his soul that I follow and watch. He betrayed all of us, the gods of this world. He corrupted many of us, bent them to his will, including my brother Barnabas, god of light. they is the duality of souls that I am set to watch.

Am I frightened by Brameer? Yes child I am. As should you if you have any sense in your head. I am truly sorry for the boy's fate, but it is not my place to interfere. I have been charged by my brothers and sisters to watch and follow them, not to interfere in their machinations. I am little more than their warden, watching and making sure that Brameer stays in his prison.

The shadows are mine to command. I can make them as fluid as Calunia's water or as solid as Kurul's stone. But my power is nothing compared to Brameer's. We almost lost the war the first time. It was only by the sacrifice of the Four Creators that he was locked away on Terrinore.

Have you no respect for the gods? Are you one who has turned your back on the old ways?

Tell me, is your asking of the same question over and over again supposed to elicit a different response from me? I have already answered this and you have already asked it.

Do I want to be his queen? What kind of human are you? Brameer betrayed his own kind, turned my own brother and countless others against their own kind. Such acts can never be forgiven.

It is in the shadows that I am able to escape the notice of Brameer. As you can see [The shadows briefly melt away revealing a pale and beautiful face framed in hair of midnight curls before the shadows flow back] I am not ugly.
