I still have those old issues, and they're still great. But I do wonder how I could read Alan Dean Foster's serializations of Star Trek the cartoon.

The editors at ASIMOV'S have changed over the years. If I remember correctly, George Scithers (who is now involved with WEIRD TALES) and Shawna McCarthy (who edits REALMS OF FANTASY) were earlier editors. The tendency towards an emphasis on wordsmithing is probably attributable to Gardner Dozois, and I imagine Sheila Williams is continuing that trend.
