Just following orders here..... the thread says to please introduce myself so that's what I'm going to do. Here we go.... I'm Jeff, I'm a new writer who is still learning technique and developing my own style. I consider myself to be a humble person who welcomes any constructive criticism. I have no education in writing other than eighth grade grammar, and it shows sometimes. Trust me. But, I enjoy it. Writing is one of the things that allows me to get away from my daily life. With that in mind, I would be lying if I said I didn't want to get published someday but that is not my motivation. My main reason to write is to write, to enjoy writing, and to continue to write and improve my style/technique. I've written a couple of short stories and a 120,000 word novel. The novel, (as I have recently been told) is my "bad book". But, someone said that the first step to writing a novel is to write a "bad" novel. After that, then you can write a good one. Put a check next to step one... onward to step two. I look forward to working with this group. IP: Logged |

120,000 words is a decent chunk of focus and writing practice, no matter how you look at it. Nice work! And welcome to the treehouse. IP: Logged |

Yeah that is pretty impressive. My first full-length attempt an a novel was a 40,000 word work of fanfiction and I got told by several folks that it was good which is tragic as I'll never make any money off it. IP: Logged |

I'll be posting my 13 lines of it somewhere around here... as soon as I figure out, where around here, is the somewhere, it needs to be. Writing the book was fun, I enjoyed it. Good, bad or indifferent. I mean heck, Heinleins first book didn't get published, at least not for a long..long time. What I find interesting is going from the 1st chapter to the middle, then to the end, and seeing how it has evolved. IP: Logged |
