No, it's not true, there are no plans to make a movie. I think OSC has said that the last thing he ever wants to do is make an Ender's Game movie.

Welcome to Hatrack, D3 -- the home of Sarcasm (who may actually post later in this thread).
The next "Shadow" book is Shadow of the Giant. There's no information as to when it is coming out (hasn't been written yet, and OSC has several things ahead of it in line). There will also be a sequel to Children of the Mind which links the Speaker series to the Shadow series. I won't tell you anything about it, since you haven't yet finished Puppets. Also coming out theoretically at some point is an audio short story about Mazer Rackham.
The movie has been "in the works" for many years. Current status is that Card is working on another screenplay (there have been a few in the past), and that there is a deal in place with Warner Brothers to produce the film. The director slated for it is Wolfgang Petersen. Petersen also has other projects which come first, so it will be at minimum a few more years before we see the movie. Rumor is that Kevin J. Anderson will be doing the novelization of the movie. (Sorry, sarcasm can slip in almost anywhere.)
Despite this site being Card's, the better place to get the most current info seems to be Philotic Web. Almost all of the moderators there are members here, but that site is geared more directly to the Enderverse than this one, and they stay very much on top of any news made available.
You forgot to add "When you read Shadow Puppets, be sure to continue through all the way to the acknowledgements. They're very well-written, too. [/shameless]"

I'm almost positive that there is going to be a movie, but it's in its very early stages of development. Wolfgang Peterson has already been signed on as director.

Yes, there is definitely going to be a movie. It is not the last thing OSC would want to do. I have heard rumors that Ender might be played by the kid who plays young Anakin in Star Wars.

<Wonders if that's sarcasm -- pretty good stuff from someone so new to Hatrack.>
Whether sarcasm or just behind the times, the information that Jake Lloyd (young Anakin) would play Ender is old, and no longer accurate. He was definitely a possibility way back when; Card thought he was a good actor, and Jake expressed interest, but it didn't come to pass.
It's gonna be Haley Joel Osment instead (kid from Sixth Sense).

For what it's worth Jake Lloyd has said that Ender's Game was/is his favorite book and I believe it was Ethan from Pweb who gave Haley Joel Osment a copy of it a couple years back...

and after HJO recieved the copy, in an interview for AI he stated it was one of his favorite books as well - it's unknown if Ethan intoduced him to it or not. If so - well, Kudos, E. Kudos.
But both are too bloomin' old.

Isn't Young Anakin a wee bit to old to play the part of Ender? I sort of see the connection of character, but aside from that the age difference is too vast. He was probably 10 when he made Star Wars... And since Ender's 6 when Ender's Game starts, it wouldn't fit.
I'm thinking that we should get some people breeding, keep the kids in captivity. Teach them to act starting as soon as they have some thought process, and then we'll have some 6 year olds who can play the parts well.

There's plenty of young Wiggins out there. A child star is born a couple times a year. To bad for them, any one remember Home Alone?
