I am currently on the alvin series

and though I am completely unable to tell whether a book reads "fast" or not

yes
it is a very good story worth reading all the way through

Its great but dont just stick to the series. Many of OSC's stand alone novels are excellent. Try Enchantment for one or Hart's Hope is a personal favorite of mine.

most OSC books read pretty fast to me. I reccommend Pastwatch. [Smile]

I had avoided picking up the Alvin series for a long time (not sure why, maybe the cover art that made it look like a romance novel) and I regret it so much now. I'm currently working on Heartfire and I love the Alvin series, maybe even more than the Homecoming series. Definitly read it, and yes it reads VERY quickly.

I didn't like the Alvin books nearly as well as the Enderverse, or many stand alone novels, but it was definitely worth reading.

I really loved the Alvin series. It's hard for me to choose between it and Ender. Both are amazing!
