Just curious how long until you start accepting submissions?

I would guess that the quickest way to get your question answered would be to click "contact" at the magazine or possibly the help desk here at Hatrack.

Did you try the submissions form?

Ah, never mind. I see the link goes to a "Coming Soon."

We decided not to allow submissions to be attached to the form - because people could send us porn or viruses, etc. So what we will do (probably on Monday) is have a "so you want to submit a story" form, which leads to your automatically receiving an email with the aliased address to which to send a file. That way, we only get submissions from people with email addresses that work - which makes them pretty much traceable.

Sorry - after some of the recent trashings of this or that site, we are learning to be careful.

What we can't handle are submissions of stories pasted into forms on a field. That strips out all the italics and underlining and a lot of other elements from word processing files. What we want are WordPerfect or Word files that preserve the manuscript in correct form.

sorry for the delay - but any submissions now will really apply to issue three, so it's not as if there's a rush, right? Still - I'm delighted to know there are people eager to offer their stories. Finding new writers or getting submissions from more established writers is at the heart of the survival of the magazine. So we will get the form up there as quickly as we can.

And for those still waiting to hear for stories that were solicited - I did have to put the reading of these stories on the back burner as all my time went to writing things that had to be finished, dealing with the first issue, and reading and preparing for the classes I've been teaching. If I had not ALSO had to fit in some trips and personal appearance things, I would have had all these stories read and the full selection for issue 2 done. But ... something had to give. What, you thought I wasn't going to watch LOST? <wince>

Well if it was for LOST then we'll forgive you. [Smile] Seriously, though, I can't say enough how much I love the first issue of IGMS.

You do good work!
