A Team of Rivals Since Mr. Card appears to be something of a Lincoln scholar and fan, I was wondering if he or anyone else on this side of the river has read this new biography by Doris Kearns Goodwin.
I heard about it on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. He interviewed the author and was sooo excited about the book that I had to laugh with delight. Ms. Goodwin's emphasis appears to be the mastery with which Lincoln brings together his cabinet of very strong personalities. The cabinet assumed that they would run Lincoln, instead, Lincoln earned their respect and benefitted from their differences.
Has anyone here read this book?
