My little brother came up to me one day and asked for help with his Social Studies homework. I was flipping through the pages when I saw a map with "Petra" on it. Petra is a city on (I think) the Arabian Peninsula. I might be wrong but I know it is a city around there, I'll look in his book again.

Petra is a real city carved from stone approx. 2000 years ago. Incredible site to see in the world. I believe it's located south of Amman. I've only read about it but would one day like to see it (along with other wonders of the world).

I don't think that's likely--Petra is actually a quite common female name.

It's really freakin awesome. They carved this entire city straight out of a cliff.

Petra is the fem version of Peter/Petrus. Petros-Greek meaning: rock: Piece of rock.

I'm betting Card would have leaned more toward biblical meaning considering the character of both Peter and Petra.

But, I could be wrong.
