Sounds like it all depends on the script draft OSC is working on. <sends positive thoughts in OSC's general direction>

I wonder what OSC would think of the 3D version of EG that Petersen mentions...

A 3D movie? What is this, Spy Kids: II or the 70s? That would be way too hoakie and it would be hard to enjoy watching it after waiting in line for 2 days.

Peterson seems to be pretty optimistic as far as the time line is concerned. If he's right, that would be great, but I don't want to get my hopes up. I'm gonna assume the script won't be in a place to start casting in quite some time.

If we have one here in Georgia (which we do), there certainly has to be one somewhere in New York.

Just one question:
Who shortens "Ender's Game" to "Ender's"? Honestly.

From the link:
quote:
...Petersen thinks Ender's Game could be as successful as the Harry Potter franchise. "I think Ender's was a little bit of an inspiration for Harry Potter," he said. "It could also be a great 3-D version of Ender's , with all that fighting in the battle stations."

I think it's a good sign. He's given the project a pet name. Which means he likes it and feels a sense of ownership over it. Which is important.

Wahooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate the feeling that I will be in college

i.e. broke,

if I get the chance to watch the actual movie. Unless, of course, they make it in a year, which would mean it would probably not turn out well.

How long do you think it takes to make a good movie?

TL: At least two years. Very likely three.

DH: Um, there are lots of IMAX theatres in NY. For starters, there's one right across the street from where I work in West Nyack.

There better be IMAX theatres in NY--the President of IMAX grew up three houses down from me on Long Island. I think I may have ridden my bike over his foot (intentionally, of course) when we were kids.

If it takes three years to make a good movie, won't the kid they cast as Ender go through puberty while they shoot?

It usually takes about 3-6 months to film one of these big blockbuster movies.

Longer for development and pre- and post-production, of course, I'm just talking *the shoot* mind you -- but this has already been in development for quite a while.

I think a year, from when shooting starts, is probably a pretty good guess, as to when it will be released. Give or take.

I'm super-excited. Go Ender.

(2008 tentpole?)
