Of all of OSC's books that I have read, I find Treason to be the most intriguing. I'm not big on reading books several times over (I feel it wastes limited time I could be using to read books I've not read before), but I just reread Treason and loved it again. The concepts involved are so fascinating, even downright weird, but it is written so well that I'm completely able to suspend my disbelief. I love it. I love Lanik.

I know that this is one of Mr. Card's earlier published works. The publication I own has a preface written by OSC saying that in this printing he'd tweaked things just a bit from the original, yet even my copy is relatively old. So I'm wondering, do I just not hear much about it because it is old or is it truly not one of his more popular books? I'm wondering if anybody can tell me how it was recieved when it was first published.

I don't know how well it was received; however, I know I loved it to death.

In fact, I really really like a lot of Mr. Card's earlier works: Treason, Songmaster, Hart's Hope...(not that I don't like his newer works as well--but they seem different in certain ways, and ones that make his earlier works just as worthwile as some of his better new ones.)

I don't know, but there is a hard back (with dust jacket!) of A Planet Called Treason, or whatever the original title is, at my local Half-Price Books. I should go snag it for my collection of obscure books!

I often wondered this as well...Treason and Wyrms are two of my favorites.

It's been too long since I've read Songmaster and Heart's Hope though...man oh man I wish I had time to read.

I started off Treason thinking I didn't like it very much, but by the end I loved it. I didn't connect with the characters very well but I adored the milieu.

I just read it for the first time a month or so ago. I find that books written in the first person narrative to be a bit hard to get into but it was still an enjoyable book.

Is Treason his only first person novel? I think it is.
As good as the series are, I tend to like the stand alone fantasy novels the best. Wyrms, Hart's Hope, Enchantment, & Treason and wonderful, and so utterly different.
