(minor Ender in Exile spoiler)

...

A military officer serving aboard a starship, last name of Akbar, in a science fiction story who puts himself into a nearly impossible position through good intentions.

...

And somehow Card did not have anyone say "It's a trap" at all throughout the story.

I mean, I know, weird little internet meme, but this is just bizzare...

Based upon OSC posts on Hatrack, i don't think he knows what a meme or an emoticon is.

I don't understand the reference above...

However, I do now have a coworker named Akbar. The first few weeks I worked with him I couldn't stop thinking of Giant Squid Heads whenever I had to say his name!

Well, it's not a meme so much as a great line from a classic movie. Admiral Ackbar may not have sat in OSC's mind quite the way it has in some of ours. We're a highly referential generation [Smile] .

Yes. The great question of our time is not 'What is the meaning of life?' but 'What's that from?'

Indeed, to the point where nobody can come up with something truly clever and spontaneous without everybody assuming it's from some quirky cable show.

It's not from some quirky cable show, it's from The Simpsons! Isn't that usually the answer?
