Well this guitar is awesome and never out of tune
And I play it for the people out underneath the moon
And I lead 'em all to Jesus with the melody and chords
Of a song that praises the Lord

-- Big Tent Revival "My Guitar"

Oi! Now that was an embarrassing memory...

I saw a lady on the porch
that I knew from years before
she said, "sorry about your father"
from behind closed doors

Standing on your mama's porch
You told me it would last forever
And when you held my hand
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life

Bryan Adams, "Summer of '69"

Good ol' Bryan. I'll never forget that song, though I've got mixed feelings about that.

I didn't think POP was a song lyric so I when back to Bryan Adams. This is Rod Stewart.

You always said living with me was impossible
Try it I said just like the wind I'm changeable
We ain't got money but we sure got laughs
lots of loving too
So I confess on my behalf
you're giving me honestly
the best days of my life

Eslaine... that was by the band M and it was actually called "Popmuzik" (If you're referring to the one that goes "New York, London, Paris, Munich, everybody talk about popmuzik.... pop, pop, popmuzik...")

Sometimes I don't know what to think about the world
When this guy is burnin' up in the street with gasoline
And the flames show no mercy
So when you really need someone to talk to you
It doesn't always work like it's supposed to

But you can love yer brain
Even if it slips down the drain
Man, I'm not no drug addict
But a person's gotta have something
To keep him from going insane

Well, this man kills this other man
Who's killed this other man, so it's okay
And this fourteen year old's sittin' in the electric chair
Smilin' and smokin' a cigarette
So I guess I was right all along readin' Mad magazine

Hey you're now thirsty
Walking in the desert all alone
Hey you're now searching
Lost in isolation from your soul
The bullets you bite
From the pain you request
You're finding harder to digest
And the answers you seek
Are the ones you destroy
Your anger's well deployed

Hey why can't you listen
Hey why can't you hear
Hey why can't you listen
As love screams everywhere

In the locust wind
Comes a rattle and hum
Jacob wrestled the angel
And the angel was overcome
You plant a demon seed
You raise a flower of fire
See them burning crosses
See the flames higher and higher

Bullet the blue sky
Bullet the blue sky
Bullet the blue
Bullet the blue

Some people say a lie’s a lie’s a lie
But I say why
Why deny the obvious, child?
Why deny the obvious, child?

And in remembering a road sign
I am remembering a girl when I was young
And we said these songs are true
These days are ours
These tears are free
And hey
The cross is in the ballpark
The cross is in the ballpark

O Annie the U2 ubergeek, answer me this: In the Best of 1990-2000 version of "Mysterious Ways," what is that line that's different from the album version? The album version goes "She's the wave, she turns the tide; she sees the man inside the child." But the other one goes "She's the wave, she turns the tide; (something something) and she knows why." I can't for the life of me figure out what Bono's singing.

I'm really ashamed to admit this, JB, but I can't tell either, and my faultless sources have nothing to say about the newest B-side versions, only the live versions.

My best guess is, "She loves him.... she don't know why"

Darling when I was your age
I could do anything
I could be a restless heart
A social force
Or just genuine
And baby don't our dreams die hard
In the ashes of destiny
I wish that I could lay to rest
The bitterness that keeps telling me

About another good lie
Coming down like a freezing rain
From a hot blue sky
Another good lie
Coming in like a crosstown hurricane on fire
Another good lie
Coming down on your Daddy's soul
'Til it made him old
Another good lie
Another good lie
Another good lie

Spiral down down down down down
down down

she cracked, now
now they call me, Mr. Bitterness
she snapped, now
now they call me Mr. Bitterness
she gone
gone gone

leaning up against the wall
I will lash out dancing like a madman when you're gone
I will spit the blue flame and hurl my glass against the wall
And I hear your name coming out from the boom box
I will hear your name called out from passing cars

Spiral down down down down down
down down

soul coughing - "Mr. Bitterness"

Mr. In and Mrs. In
Can you please tell me what's in
And what is wrong with me
I'm never in your company

Mr. Out and Mrs. Out
What is this all about
Before you know it you've come in

And all I ever wanted
Was a good job and some bus fare
And a rocket and a bomb
A rocket and a bomb

Let’s not twist again like we did last summer
Let’s do something else; let’s have some real fun
Let us continue to exploit and abuse one another
It’s time to do
Phase two of the funky western civilization

Politely kill the person on your right
Kill the person to your left
Kill everybody in sight
Promenade and kill yourself

All of those babies died just as I suspected
It’s an election year; it’s time to buy another gun (bang bang)
I don’t know who’s drivin’ now, and I ain’t interested
It’s true, honey, it’s all true
There’s nothing you can do
Except the funky western civilization

You gently kill the person on your right
Kill the person to your left
Kill everybody in sight
Do-si-do and kill yourself

We crossed the lines
and pushed you over
it doesn't matter to you

it matters to me

we're cut adrift
yet still floating

i'm only hanging on
to watch you go down

my love.

i disappeared in you
you disappeared from me
i gave you everthing you ever want to have
wasn't what you wanted

the men who love you
ya hate the most
they pierce right through you like a ghost

they look for you
but your spirit
is in the air
baby, yer nowhere

In my mind, I'm goin' to Carolina
Can't you see the sunshine
Can't you just feel the moonshinin',

Ain't it just like a friend of mine
to hit me from behind
Yes, I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind.

Karen, she's a Silver Sun
you best walk her way and watch it shining
watch her watch the morning come

A silver tear appearing now
I'm crying,
ain't I?
Goin' to Carolina in my mind

There ain't no doubt in no one's mind
That loves the finest thing around

whisper something soft and kind...

and hey baby, the sky's on fire.
I'm dying
Ain't I?
goin' to Carolina in my mind

And do you know Carolina where the biscuits are soft and sweet?
These things go through your head when there's a man on your back
And you're pushed flat on your stomach, it's not a classic Cadillac

Me, and a gun, and a man on my back
But I haven't seen Barbados so I must get out of this.

My good friend had a girlfriend
She was a crazy thing
She'd be so nice at first
and then she'd change

One night she started kicking
She started swinging too
Before she stole his car
he was black and blue

We stood there starting
as she raced away
his Fleetwood never looked the same
after that day

Crash Cadillac
It made her feel good
to get the boy back
crash Cadillac

you know the way that things go
when whay you fight for starts to fall
and in that fuzzy picture
the writing stands out on the wall

send out the signals deep and loud

and in this place, and you reassure me
with a touch, a smile--while the cradle's burning
all the while the world is turning to noise
oh the more that it's surrounding us
the more that it destroys
turn up the signal
wipe out the noise

send out the signals deep and loud

man i'm losing sound and sight
of all those who can tell me wrong from right
when all things beautiful and bright
sink in the night
yet there's still something in my heart
that can find a way
to make a start
to turn up the signal
wipe out the noise

wipe out the noise....

Show me something worse
Than a child outside a church
Begging with a cardboard box
In a heartless town that hurts and mocks him
And on a chair, anywhere
I will sit down and cry,
And close my eyes

Against the Christmas windows
Here in Christmas town
A young girl rests her tattered head
And the festive lights shine down

And if she were a kitten
Someone would take her home
But we’ve no pity for our own kind
Our hearts are stone
Our eyes are blind

Show me something more
Than the wolf at the door
All the begging in the cold
To keep the wolf from the fold

Show me something more
Than the an honest girl turned thief or whore
Under African sun or Dublin rain
Necessities remain the same

--Everything But The Girl, "Angel"

Faith to believe
When nothing can I see
Love comes rushing down
Inside these tears
As the sorrow rushes over me

Holding on
To the purest of what I see
The grass, the trees, my memories
It's the tick that tocks
Through the stream of eternity

Stand on your own two feet
And dance with the hardest
Days of the world by your side

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the TIME
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation in the English way
The TIME is gone the song is over, thought I'd something more to say
