Did you burn it, my brother? It is the only way you can be set free from the DEMONS that OPPRESS your SOUL.

As funny as this may seem (and I've chuckled myself) this is rather sad. This person is both zealous and misguided and that's a dangerous combination. I wish they could direct all that energy toward something more positive that will have a greater effect than railing against candles and paisley print.

The following things are evil. Get rid of them.

1. Books and objects identified with anything related to Satan's Kingdom.
2. Sinful activities of former residents left curses.
3. Knocking or noisy ghosts (poltergeist) and apparitions.
4. Owl and frog images of all types.
5. Witch's mask and fetishes used by witch doctors.
6. Objects and literature that pertain to false religions, cults, the occult and spiritism.
7. Graven images of gods (demons).
8. Objects dedicated to demons (idols and artifacts).

Well, TAK, you're probably already damned for being Catholic, so I can't image that wearing paisley would hurt. I mean, it's not like you can be extra-damned, right?

Belle, you're right, this is very sad. I'm done now. However, I cannot argue with this religious person - the Scriptures say what they say, and this person's experiences are not something I am qualified to discredit.
However, if this is truly what God is all about, I think I'll choose Hell. On purpose.

quote:Know this - EVERYONE has demons, ESPECIALLY CHRISTIANS. There is no Scripture that says this. It is just a matter of FACT. There is no Scripture that says you do NOT have demons. Jesus said the demons are living INSIDE of you, not OUTSIDE, and the demons call your body their "house".
Okay, this is just bad theology too. I don't think that any believer can be possessed by demons. They can't cross the blood line. ONce you've accepted Christ and have been washed clean by his blood, you're inaccessible to them.
That does not mean that demons cannot bother you or influence you or that there can't be strongholds in your life, that does happen to everyone but it's not the same as possession.
I believe spiritual warfare is real - we war not against flesh and blood but powers and principalities. I believe demons exist.
I do not believe they have a hold over me because I enjoy candlelight. I think my God is more powerful than that. I don't think He sits on his thrones and wrings his hands and says "I wish my believers would stop wearing paisley."

And there are also things on the website I agree with - like the bits about the widespread use of chemicals, selling religion/God for profit, etc. It's scary how much I can actually agree with.

Betcha they're associated with Landover Baptist. It kind of reminds me of the ""Objective Christian Ministries which is a parody pretending to be a real Christian site. (Search for some of the stuff they have on there...their "university" doesn't exist, for starters).

quote:Would you like help from being Depressed? Abused? Afraid? Tormented? Suicidal? Sick? Alcoholic? Addict? Obese? Homosexual (gay, lesbian)? Witch? Satanist? Brotherhood? Want out of the occult or a cult? Hooked on porno? Dying? OCD? MPD? DID? Molester? Self-Abuse? Bi-polar? Etc.? Just get Saved and cast out these demons!
This is what I meant by dangerous. Let's just convince people that none of those problems can be related to anything except demons, so if they supposedly case them out and stay depressed then we'll just tell them that it was a lack of faith.
There ARE real chemical problems in the world, that need treatment. I do not and can not subscribe to the idea that every mental illness in the world is the result of the demonic.
And Jenny, I agree with a lot of it, I just don't agree with the degree to which they've taken it.

Shigosei, they're not. This group is exactly what it claims to be. These kinds of folks have been around at least as long as I have. My mom used to have books like this in her religious shelves...

Yanno, I was just thinking the other day how much I missed wearing paisley. Can't seem to find any good paisley ties anymore, just the weird and overly flashy geometrics. Blech!

Yeah, I know, Belle. That's what depresses me. Some good stuff, because it is always a good thing to examine yourself. What is in your home and why? That's not a bad thing to consider. But taken to these extremes...
Also, though I am now disinclined to agree with the idea of Spiritual Warfare, I once heartily participated in it. I remember helping cast demons out of a house once, and being "summoned" by some mysterious prompting to protect a friend who was talking to a purported Witch. I am not about to discredit those experiences, or those of people who have claimed to have them.
I walk a different path now, and I end up laughing at websites like these precisely to the degree they have harmed and pained me.

When people start talking about "Voting from their religion" or "Allowing religion, not secular science, to guide their decisions" it is nuts like these that make me question the wisdom of doing that.
I know its not fair.
I know its not likely.
However, when some one says they are going to vote as their religion guides them, I fear a world where people like this make government policy that rules my life.
Thanks in large part to people here, I now banish that unworthy thought. Still, they are doing more harm to Christianity than all the Gay marriages in California.
It is hard to truly praise those you fear, so I wonder of the true piety of the God Fearing man.

I actually stumbled upon this website once researching Islam and what it says about Christ. I found what they had to say informative and it actually didn't seem as biased as you would expect from this site.

quote:The Pontiff told the assembled Buddhist monks, Zoroastrian priests, Catholic cardinals, Hindu gurus, American Indian shamen, Jewish rabbis, and ecumenical clergy that all must join in condemning the Christian fundamentalists who "abuse speech" and whose efforts at converting others "incite hatred and violence."
The Pope further directed that the religious leaders promote "tolerance," mutual understanding, and respect for all religions and faiths, not just their own.
Gotta hate that tolerance, mutual understanding, and respect...

Yes, and by merely being here on Hatrack, I am desensitizing all of you to Wicca! By doing this, I am slowly corrupting you all and am poisoning Hatrack with my demons!
You should all fear me!
I went poking around on that site, knowing, just knowing, that I would find a section about wicca, and look,I found one! Now you can all reverse my evil influences on Hatrack by chanting these really long, spell-like incantations!
I did want to say that I would personally like to strangle the Wiccan who sent them the emails saying that Wicca was similar to old Satanism. Yes, lets spread some common misconceptions.

This site does not promote the Sin of Intolerance.
It promotes the idea that everyone should be tolerant
of us.
We peacefully tolerate the rest of you on your pathetic journey to Heck, and do wish you would hurry up and get there.

The greatest dress I ever owned was a deep solid turquoise, with a paisley texture in the heavy material. Princess waist and neckline, puffed sleeves, netting under the skirt and bows down the back where the buttons were. My mom got it for me when I was 12.
Paisley will always have a corner cubby in my heart's inn. *sniff*
