I absolutely love Lost in Translation, it is an awesome movie, the only thing is, I have now watched it at least 6 times. Same with Waking Life. These are both great.

So I need a new movie, somethign to match my mood right now, something odd, something with that unique, maybe trippy feeling. Something that causes pondering and thought. Not just an entertaining movie. Doesn't need to be a recent release, just something I can find.

Watch these trailers, they should give some idea.

Lost in Translation
Waking Life

Movies I liked that my wife thought were too weird:

1. City of Lost Children (Weird in a French Time Bandits kind of way.)
2. Final Fantasy (Beautiful animation. Some plot holes, but generally entertaining.)
3. Akira, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away. I'm not a big Anime fan, but these fulfilled my need for intelligent sci-fi.

Too bad most "sci-fi" movies are more like cartoons that some cartoons are.

You may also like Igby Goes Down. It has a Catcher in the Rye feel to it.
