Well it's the first day of school today and already the madness has set in. For me at least. It just never feels like you're completely ready for the kids to come into class. but, so far so good. Things are going fairly smoothly and I haven't had any major problems yet. Here's hoping for a good year!

First day of school, here, as well. As a parent, I look at it as an opportunity to get the kids out of my hair - yay!

I teach eighth grade and I often dread these first days of school because of this very sentiment. 120 kids who have parents that are thrilled to have them out of the house.
Actually the first day went really well until 9th period when I had to give out 2 detentions. I was really patient too. I gave out numerous warnings and pleaded my case as best as I could. I even told them... "I'm really torn right now between wanting to be a nice guy getting to know you on this first day and wanting to throw you out the window. The nice guy is losing." They apparnetly wanted to see the window tossing guy, I never got to the window but they did get tossed into detention. Oh, the joys of teaching.

I intended to be an English as a Second Language teacher. Got my MA in it and everything. It hasn't been my main source of income, though, since I stopped being a GTA.
Screechowl is a principal, I believe. Rivka, you're a science teacher, right? David Bowles doesn't really post here anymore, but he is an English teacher. Same is true for KrankyKat. I'm almost sure that there are a couple of other teachers here, but I can't think who they are right now.

I'm a teacher. This is my first year and I will be teaching first grade. We don't start until Sept. 8 so I 'm working on setting up my room right now.
