I know this seems random, but I just got my new car recently, and I wanted to know what everybody else drives. I drive a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta. (manual transmission of course)

Wow that's impressive. Consistently? I do about 225 on a regular basis, though I haven't played in a while.

Dude, I can't drive a golf ball. I can barely hit it straight enough to go through the windmill.

That's putting. And if you're trying to drive it through the windmill, that could be the source of the windmill problem.

I try to avoid driving, except for on long open empty stretches of highway, since I get flustered and jump curbs when there are too many people around.

When you live in Elk Grove, CA, which has no public transportation whatsoever, you hardly have a choice.

Either five miles over the speed limit or the exact same speed of the fastest person on the road, whichever is higher.

You would thing a city with 140,000 people in it would arrange for some sort of public transportation!

I used to drive a brand-new car till it got wrecked. Now I drive a 91 (?) Oldsmobile something or another. It's name is Old Blue, and it's main good feature is that it came without a car payment while we were still paying off the other one. That said, I have to admit a certain amount of fondness for Old Blue. One day soon he'll be traded in for a newer mini-van, though.

My dads '94 Honda Accord station wagon at my dads house (manual) and my a '91 Toyota Paseo at my moms house (manual). And any time I go hiking or mountain biking I use the Accord.
And I don't play golf at all.

Um, here, I don't drive. I either walk or take a trishaw. Hubby does the same with the addition of also riding a motorbike. When it works, which it does now since he got it serviced yesterday.
And while it was being serviced, the mechanic guys found a termite nest in his seat. They cleaned it all out, so no more termites. Yay!

My husband drives a 1985 Toyota Tercel wagon, also stick shift.
We don't particularly like automatic transmission. And my husband hates to spend money on new cars. He will push these two cars for as long as the repairs stay within a reasonable price range.
So far they have been pretty reliable, for the most part.

Your car is cute, Coccinelle. Even if it does occasionally do things it shouldn't. (I'm sure you have nothing to do with that.)

95 Subaru Legacy Wagon. I love that car. Is like my brother to me. Well, not really. My brother's more of a jerk sometimes (A jerk is a tug, a tug is a boat, a boat goes on water, water is beautiful. There, I gave him a compliment).

2000 Silver Dodge Neon with a spoiler (just a little one.) It's a stick shift and I bought it from my dad 3 months ago for $5000 with 40,000 miles on it. Steal you say? Yep, it sure was. My dad is extremely kind and sweet, and he even changed my oil for me last month.

I drive a '93 Nissan 240SXy. Ok, it's only a 240SX, but it's definitely sexy. It's a manual and it's my baby and it has flip-up lights which are so nifty.

Thanks Space Opera, good to be back. I haven't been on Hatrack for months.
Anyway... you are in a very safe car. I just totalled my 97 Subaru Legacy Wagon. I rolled in it 5 times, and the interior of the car was unscathed, and I walked away without a scratch. Luckily, I wasn't at fault, and I got 900 dollars more than what I owed on the car, so I had enough for my Jetta. 26,000 miles on it for $10,500. Posts: 4229 | Registered: Dec 2002

'99 Subaru Outback Legacy Wagon 30th Anniversary Limited Edition. Fully loaded. Stick shift. Way too expensive (for me) to keep up. Oh well. Live and learn. I do love her, though, and come tax time, she'll get all the TLC she's needed for so long.

In the states, I drive a (I dunno the year) Toyota Camry (It's old, though)... and it's dark blue. And it's not mine, it's my mom's. But I drive it as much as she does.
Here, I don't drive (Israeli drivers are absolutely terrible)... but I'm not allowed to ride buses either, so I take taxicabs. Which are expensive, but that's life.

I drive a 95 toyota tercel, a graduation present from my absolutely wonderful parents; the hubby drives and 94 jeep grand cherokee limited that we bought used. Both are automatic, though the hubby hates this. (I'm OK, though, since I've never driven a stick. Ever.)

I drive a domestic - Frogger - my '93 Ford Ranger. He's a manual, is kind of beat-up (especially after my run-in with a Yamaha a few months ago), and has 128k miles on him, but he still works remarkably well (with the exception of the heater at the moment - it's a good thing I can now actually park in our garage and Phoenix winters aren't very cold).
When not driving my truck, I drive hubby's 2000 Honda Civic - gotta love that gas mileage!

My first grownup car (A car built within the last 15 years!). A 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid. Technically used, since it was a floor model, but only 100 miles on it at purchase. Still had the new car smell. Also the VIN is 0000003, so it was the 3rd Hybrid Civic off the line that year.
Prior to this car (just about 2 months now!) was a string of old early- to mid-80s Volvo 240s.

I walk. But I know what my first car is probably going to be. When I go to grad school, I'll hopefully get my mom's car - a 2001 Jeep Cherokee (the last year they made them, I believe). I like that car.

Currently still enjoying the company of one of these, a 2004 Chevrolet Impala SS. Something of a controverial car to SS fans, but I'm enjoying it immensely.
Previous car was one of these, though mine was silver and not that patented GM gold. It made it though 140,000 miles before it went the way of likely being turned into a metal cube.

This is very reassuring to me, as I also drive a 97 Subaru Legacy Wagon. Her name is Spanner, since her job is to take care of the loose nut behind the wheel, and my husband thought "Wrench" was too masculine-sounding. Her previous owner was horribly unkind to her, however, and she's needed a ton of expensive repairs. I still love her, though.
