They'll give me the same rates as last year ($69.00 per room before taxes- that's either for a double (two double beds=4 people) or a king, and $25.00 a day for the meeting room -I'll get a TV and stuff from somewhere so we don't have to mess with the crappy hotel system)
We can get those for either MLK weekend or the weekend or March 5-6th. If more people can make March 12-13, then somebody other than me will have to organize it, since I won't be there to make sure the meeting room gets paid for and all that.
So, chirp in with a yes or no for each date, and let me know by tomorrow, k?
EDIT: I CAN do the 13th and 14th, ladies and gents! Is that better?

Having just checked, I will try, but $400 for plane fare is a lot for me to get together, so I don't know if I'll make it. Maybe that will drop.

March works better for me, as that means I will have more time to save up and get caught up on bills. Also, I fear missing my nephews' birthday party again if it is held on MLK.

Plans have changed. I can do any of the dates. March 12 would mean that I spend the entirety of my spring break in Georgia.

okay, it's not fair to pad the ballot box for march. Unless you are SURE you can't do it in march, don't say yes.
If you aren't sure, but see it as a possibility, then say maybe. None of this "Yes, but I might not be able to." That isn't fair.

mac, it's not intentional; mine started out as a yes, as in "I'll do everything I can to get there", but changed to a maybe when I saw the prices that weekend.

I think what mack meant was saying, "I might be able to come March, but just count it as a yes." It wasn't done with bad intentions, but it makes it look like more people are coming at a certain time then might actually be able to come.

I may be able to attend on that day, after all (and mac, if you can make it, I'll put ya up the rest of the week if you need me to )

Since Sunday, ticket prices have gone up twice.
I'm not sure if I can come at all, but MLK is a strong possibility (likelihood of 80%, I think); the March dates (either weekend) are pretty unlikely (likelihood of 25% or less).

*nod* Especially since Dec. 15 -- tomorrow -- is generally a date on which ticket prices jump up.

I'm looking into Amtrack, but since their "fare finder" seems to be screwed up, I don't know what that would be like.

MLK is a yes. First weekend in March is a yes. Second weekend in March is a yes. Most other weekends in the winter/spring of 2005 are also a yes. I'm not very helpful, am I?

If it was closer I'd go by train. I looooooved going to Chicago by train despite how long it took. No sickness on that bad boy.

The hubby suggested that people coming from Dallas might consider flying in to Birmingham and renting a car, though if anybody from B'ham was coming, maybe something could be arranged.
Does anybody know how to get Jenny G? I haven't gotten any response yet, and I seem to have mislaid her phone number.

I get horribly lost even driving where I grew up; can't do it where I've lived for a year; and I get nervous in traffic (as in, "jump the curb" nervous). I don't think driving (especially with a baby) is a good option for me. However, if someone else is interested in sharing a rental (and doesn't mind the baby)...

I nixed the March 12-13th dates because, among other reasons, Olive had to be elsewhere but judging by the responses and more importantly, because Olive's plans have changed, I think the 12-13th is looking better and better.
If Olive can confirm for the 12-13th, is everyone ok with that?

Yup. If the train is affordable. Unfortunately, it'll be around $420 for me and the baby to fly. I don't know if we'll have that much to spend and hotel money.

There is a slight chance I'll be MOVING to Atlanta March-ish, so, um, if I were able to make any of them, it'd be the later dates.
