They'll give me the same rates as last year ($69.00 per room before taxes- that's either for a double (two double beds=4 people) or a king, and $25.00 a day for the meeting room -I'll get a TV and stuff from somewhere so we don't have to mess with the crappy hotel system)

We can get those for either MLK weekend or the weekend or March 5-6th. If more people can make March 12-13, then somebody other than me will have to organize it, since I won't be there to make sure the meeting room gets paid for and all that.

So, chirp in with a yes or no for each date, and let me know by tomorrow, k?

EDIT: I CAN do the 13th and 14th, ladies and gents! Is that better?

No on MLK.

Maybe on Mar. 5-6; I'm not sure, but put me down as yes and if I can't make it, I won't.

Having just checked, I will try, but $400 for plane fare is a lot for me to get together, so I don't know if I'll make it. Maybe that will drop.

I almost certainly cannot do MLK (assuming that it's Jan. 17-19 that we're talking about, right?).

I probably won't be able to handle Mar. 5-6, either.

However, if we go with Mar. 12-14, that falls on IU's spring break! Yay for March 12-14! [Big Grin]

My $.02.

Edited to add...that's a no, no, yes for me (in chronological order).

Could (and probably would) make MLK, March 5-6, or March 12-13.

Want Olivia to be there. [Smile]

March works better for me, as that means I will have more time to save up and get caught up on bills. Also, I fear missing my nephews' birthday party again if it is held on MLK.

MLK works better for me and Shlomo. JaneX can probably make it then, too, but she will have to speak for herself.

Edit: Shlomo could not do the March dates at all, and JaneX can't do Mar. 5-6.

Ah! Just realized I have a big exam Jan 21.

More likely to make March dates, still might be able to make MLK.

Plans have changed. I can do any of the dates. March 12 would mean that I spend the entirety of my spring break in Georgia. [Eek!]

okay, it's not fair to pad the ballot box for march. Unless you are SURE you can't do it in march, don't say yes.

If you aren't sure, but see it as a possibility, then say maybe. None of this "Yes, but I might not be able to." That isn't fair.

No to January for us, it's too soon. March...call it a maybe, no one weekend better than another.

Some people are saying No to January.

But not saying Yes to March. Just a maybe. Except it's being disguised as a Yes.

Hence the ballot padding.

mac, it's not intentional; mine started out as a yes, as in "I'll do everything I can to get there", but changed to a maybe when I saw the prices that weekend.

did you actually mean "Unless you are SURE you can do it in march, don't say yes"? 'cuz that's what is throwing me off. Maybe I'm just wacky, though.

I think what mack meant was saying, "I might be able to come March, but just count it as a yes." It wasn't done with bad intentions, but it makes it look like more people are coming at a certain time then might actually be able to come.

I think I just explained what I meant by that; if I said, "count it as a yes", I meant that I did intend to come, and I'd try to work it out.

My later post was intended to change it to a maybe.

Since Sunday, ticket prices have gone up twice. [Razz]

I'm not sure if I can come at all, but MLK is a strong possibility (likelihood of 80%, I think); the March dates (either weekend) are pretty unlikely (likelihood of 25% or less).

[Dont Know]

MLK is a yes.
First weekend in March is a yes.
Second weekend in March is a yes.
Most other weekends in the winter/spring of 2005 are also a yes.
I'm not very helpful, am I?

The hubby suggested that people coming from Dallas might consider flying in to Birmingham and renting a car, though if anybody from B'ham was coming, maybe something could be arranged.

Does anybody know how to get Jenny G? I haven't gotten any response yet, and I seem to have mislaid her phone number.

I get horribly lost even driving where I grew up; can't do it where I've lived for a year; and I get nervous in traffic (as in, "jump the curb" nervous). I don't think driving (especially with a baby) is a good option for me. However, if someone else is interested in sharing a rental (and doesn't mind the baby)...

I nixed the March 12-13th dates because, among other reasons, Olive had to be elsewhere but judging by the responses and more importantly, because Olive's plans have changed, I think the 12-13th is looking better and better.

If Olive can confirm for the 12-13th, is everyone ok with that?

Yup. If the train is affordable. Unfortunately, it'll be around $420 for me and the baby to fly. I don't know if we'll have that much to spend and hotel money.
