So for quite some time now, Mooselet has been informing me and Mama that he wants to be a firefighter when he grows up. Reasonable, since he has several relatives who do or did work in the firefighting arena, and he was a firefighter for Halloween this year.
This morning, though, the following conversation:
quote:"I'm going to be an astronaut when I grow up this time, ok?"
"Pal, you can be whatever you want to be when you grow up, if you work at it."

Hey, I say he can be the stay-at-home dad, but still wear the fireman uniform. All the chick magnetism, plus it's great for protecting against the unexpected piddle!

He does have to be one of the sweetest little boys ever. It really made my day getting to spend time with him (and the rest of you too ), especially when, after being there for not much more than an hour, he said he loved me.

My son is truly my sun and am hoping that our third child, which is only 8 weeks along, is as healthy and pleasant as the first two.
P.S. Can I borrow someone's firefighter outfit? I need to do some....hands on....research with my wife.

Carl is going to grow-up to be someone very special. I love the fact that he only chooses professions where he can be a true hero. Pop, it's easy to see, when he looks at you, that he knows you're a hero. It makes sense he'd want to be just like you.

I'm not sure the uniform did that much for him. Maybe because it was a little bit too big? He's still cute, though. *smile*

That's adorable, PappaMoose. However, when he gets older, my step-mother will be attracted to him, as she loves firemen.
Is Mooselet really old enough that he's thinking about what he wants to be when he grows up? ...Wow, time goes by fast.

I'm in more trouble than I thought then mack. Anything I can do to appease it, or am I doomed?

Carl should be in ad campaigns or something. What a cute kid! That fireman garb suits him well.
You are so fortunate that you get to be with him so much and enjoy these times. Thanks for sharing them with us too!

I had a similar experience with Emily once, when she was talking about whether or not to be a doctor or a nurse. She said she really wanted to work with bones, because they were so cool, she wanted to be the person that when a little kid broke their arm, she fixed it for them.
I told her that she would probably want to be a doctor then, because it was the doctor who would do the surgery to actually fix the bone, and that what she was describing was the job of a pediatric orthopedic surgeon.
She said that sounded great. Then she paused for a second and said "But, Mom, if I do that, I still get to be a mother too, right?" I told her yes, she could. She said, "Good. Because I don't want to be a doctor if it means I can't be a mother. And when my kids are little, I'll just stop being a doctor for a while, so I can be home and love them like you did for us."
Kids are the most awesome things in the world.

As to why he wants to be a stay-at-home dad, I'm wondering if he thinks that means you get to sit around in your underwear all day, watch TV and drink beer.
Not that he'd get that idea from me, mind you....

Yeah, the summer of 2003 was a blur. Pretty much the whole year was. I don't remember anything happening between the Salt Lake winter Olympics and the election. I'm getting old.

*kicks cut and paste function* That's twice in two days. I need to check my links.
And I was actually trying to link to the video of the song. The animation is even better than the lyrics.
