I have watched every episode of this show and it is becoming a struggle. I like the concept and it should make for a great series. The possibilities are endless. However, the writing is just plain awful when it comes to her family relationships and how the family reacts to her ability.

Every week the husband is a complete jerk to her about her visions, but is a nice guy the rest of the time. The nice guy (or any normal guy) would not react the way he does about this one subject. The older sister had the same reaction to the little sister. No decent parent would have let her get away with it. Even the boss at work acts ridiculously at times (given her track record of being right).

Has any else watched this show and had the same reaction? How can the writers have it so wrong?

I saw previews for it while over at my parent's, and I thought it looked just awful. No desire to see it whatsoever. [Smile]

Yeah, the writers obviously have no clue how to, well, write. At least how to write characters that are believable.

I watched this show last night and I thought there was something odd in the filming. After 10 or 15 minutes I finally figured out what was bothering me. Most shows use a rock-steady camera view-point. This show has the camera moving a bit. I don't know if this is intentional and designed to add a gritty realistic feel, but once I did notice the movement it was even more distracting to the point where it was making me vaguely ill.

I really like the show, as does JenniK.

I like the show a lot. And yeah, they do carry the camera, rather than have it on a dolly. At least for parts of the show. I think (but I'm not sure) that when Allison is in the picture (except if she's dreaming about herself), the picture is steady. The idea being that we're often seeing through Allison's eyes.

Anyway, it's certainly better than the Jennifer Love Hewitt thing.

I have always thought that this show is laughably bad. The relationships are so unbelievable, especially the fact that everyone seems to forget that she was right every other time. The acting also seems really bad (I was shocked when it was nominated and won several awards last year).

It is about a TV show called 'Medium', in which a woman with supernatural skills is involved in crime fighting.

I have seen an episode, and I wasn't overly impressed by anything. I was channel hopping at the time though- watching two shows- so I got half the information.

My feeling exactly, starLisa. I don't see Medium every week, but I've quite liked the episodes I've seen. I couldn't make it through even one full episode of the JLH thing.

I especially like the relationship between Allison and her husband. He tries to be understanding about the whole psychic thing...but he's a rocket scientist and it is outside his whole paradigm of what the world and the universe are about. So, it freaks him out sometimes. I can understand that. I also very much like the middle daughter (the one who wouldn't take her bike helment off, she loved it so much, even for her school pictures, in one episode), who kind of reminds me of myself when I was that age. I think, too, that it is very interesting how they are handling the issue with the oldest daughter, who also seems to have some sort of psychic gift.

Saw one episode, thought it was about as good as 'The Dead Zone'. Not incredibly impressed, but it'd be reasonably mindless viewing if I was ever that bored.

I liked that it was about a family who seemed to have a strong bond with each other, as opposed to the usual set up of enigmatic singletons that usually appear in TV dramas. It made a change.

I think it's a relatively interesting show, but I agree that some of the relationships between characters are poorly written. I like it more for the plot than the people.

I just wish they'd talk to her about it, particularly after last week's episode. She needs to have a clearer idea of what's going on in her own head, and Allison can provide that. I'm actually a little irked with her (Allison) that she didn't sit down and explain what was going on. The girl is twelve, and could probably handle it.

I like the show.

Megan, I agree, especially after this episode as well. Both of the older girls seem to have some ability and rather than helping them through it, she is almost ignoring that it happens.

I think the husband is just stiff which you would expect maybe from a rocket scientist. Maybe the writing is bad, but it is not keeping me from enjoying the show. Perhaps all the reality TV I've watched has numbed my brain.

My only complaint is that they seem to spend a great deal of time in bed (not is a sexual way). Anyone else notice that?

My wife and I like this show. We do comment that the husband's a rather odd duck, what with his disbelief every single episode. . .

Let me just comment on what a pain in the tuckus it would be having a psychic wife-- not only is she always right, she knows how to be right in ADVANCE!

How could you ever argue with her?

[Razz]

I like the husband - with the exception of the blindspot about his wife's psychic-ossity, he is probably the best husband/father on television today.
