I never thought I would do it again. I'm spending money on it - something I swore I would never do. I don't want my family or close friends to know, but I can't wait till the next time I do it.
I thought I could keep it under control. The first time I told myself, "It's ok; just a temporary slip-up." But then it happened again, and again. A cheeseburger here, a piece of smoked sausage there. This weekend I actually ate chicken fingers, for goodness sakes. After years of happily eating veggies I've rejoined the legions of meat-eaters. I know pregnant women have cravings, but why must I crave dead animals instead of chocolate?

You obviously don't know too many vegetarians/vegans. Saying such things in front of such people usually illicits a violient response- either verbal or physical. You have been warned.

I'm trying to tell myself that eating meat is a sacrifice that I'm making for my child. Mr. Opera is enjoying it, however. He likes to point to my belly and say, "The baby likes meat! The baby needs meat!" I swear he chuckles everytime I order a cheeseburger.

Keep your "warning". I'm not interested in it, or your deductions about whom I "obviously" do or do not know.

Your body, like mine right now, is probably craving fats and protein. Don't worry about it. You need to consume whatever will best nourish your body and the baby you're building. I say GO WITH THE CRAVE. Me, I've been craving Taco Bell 7-Layer Burritos....MMM. With my first child, it was chili dogs. Man, I just couldn't get enough of them!

Is there any danger of overloading your system if you haven't eaten meat in so long? I would imagine you would need some adjusting time. Although I guess most bets are off when you're pregnant.
I ate at El Gaucho's when I was in Portland a couple of weeks ago, and even for a regular meat eater I thought that was a little too much. And all I had was an 8 oz filet mignon.

What the hell is up with you being so defensive? Good Lord, man. The initial post was a joke. Are you so thin skinned?

I'm sorry Ms. Opera - I'm sure the legions of dead and dismembered animals will forgive your cravings as you feast on their rent and sundered flesh.

You'd better watch it. I have a certificate in man-abuse from one of the best programs available.
