Hey, people, you just got the best moderator on this whole planet! I expected fanfare, and all I see are quiet whispers.

I am officially passing my janitorial mop to Papa Moose, effective immediately. But before I go, I'd like to thank all of you who joined in the excitement of sending me more moderator alerts today than I have ever had in one day. It was actually a whole lot of fun, and it marked the end of my janitorial reign in high style.

Meanwhile, I may be back as KathrynHPerson ... or I may continue lurking, which is what I usually do here. Thanks for being so good to me, and I only hope you'll be equally good to your new and terrific janitor. You couldn't have a better one.

Meanwhile, give him some FANFARE! He's got a whole lot of work ahead of him. Let him at least revel in your love for a day or two!

KHK

Personally, I'm afraid of scaring him off with too much attention. Moose is the sort of guy that reacts to approval by gnawing away at his conscience with ways he could have been better.

Um... also, I have a confession to make. I always thought Kathryn Janitor and Kathy Kidd were different people. And I thought Janitor was really her last name, and I found that rather amusing.

Good work, Kathy! We'll miss you! And Kathryn too - both of you.

And yay for more Papa Moose! It's like he was the really well-behaved kid in class that gets to be the hall monitor and now it'll be nothing but grief and disrespect from here on out.

She won't be KathrynHPerson, for heaven's sake.

She'll be KathrynHBucket.

Because now ANYTHING that goes wrong on Hatrack, we can say, "That's because of the OLD janitor. But now, with our NEW janitor, everything will be GREAT."

OK, we won't do that, because everybody will know better. Anything wrong with Hatrack is <wince> my fault.

"Uncle Orson is at the helm" ... ha ha. funny.

You DID know that the H in Kathy's name stands for her natal last name, Helms, right? So the joke was on purpose, right?

Yeah, it's funny. To me. Kind of. OK not very, but I noticed it, and I'm always proud when that happens.

At the same time, I already said in the other thread that if I had to come up with names of people I thought would be good choices for moderators, Papa Moose would have been on the short list. I know he's going to do a fantastic job. [Smile]

I resent the implication that some authority had any hand in controlling me. I am a rebellious teen and that's just the kind of thing that could make me go crazy and start breaking s***.

Fanfare for Papa Moose, people. I didn't need fanfare for ME.

Nevertheless, it felt nice. I even liked the "Uncle Orson is at the helm" joke, which I knew from Jon Boy's own persona was a joke and not an inadvertent pun (which is the only way I ever make puns, by the way).

I now have the new name. However, I think it's the pits going from member #48 to going to member #(whatever I am now). Oh well, that's what happens when you go into civilian life -- you really are just an anonymous person.
