Does anybody know who recorded the original version of that song and where I can get it? And also what the original name of that song is?

Now I've got the melody stuck in my head. Thanks. [Grumble]

The original Edison recording of it was made by Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey, "The Dorsey Brothers". Re-released 1953 on Riverside, along with other tracks, on Jazz of the Roaring Twenties.

(Oh, and the full name is "Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue (Has Anybody Seen my Girl?)")

Someone started randomly singing that song to me the other day, because I fit the description (well, the five foot two, eyes of blue part). I had never heard it before, and I was a little weirded out.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who read the first part of that as "Two by two, hands of blue."

Thank you ketchupqueen, that does answer a lot of my questions. Now I just need to find where I can get it on CD.

You can't. You can get other people doing it on CD, but this was part of a collection released on vinyl in 1953, and hasn't been re-released on CD. I can point you to a 1952 Mitch Miller recording of it, oldest I've found that you can get on CD, but you have to special-order that from a place that puts old songs on CD for you.
