Hey, I couldn't find the old thread about LOST, so I'm starting a new one.
A friend of mine at work found this really weird connection between the number that Rousseau's message recited when they picked up her transmission, and Hurley's creepy lottery numbers:
quote:So the cursed(?) lottery numbers of LOST are: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42
The repeating transmission in French (end of episode 2) is: 1, 7, 2, 9, 4, 5, 3
Not sure if this is explained anywhere or not - but it makes the cursed number pattern through sequential wrapping addititon:
This is interesting, but weird, because that number was increasing with every repetition of the message, right? So if they had picked up the transmission a minute earlier or a minute later, this wouldn't have worked.
Fun, though, huh?
Anyway, unless someone else can find the other thread, here's a place to talk about tonight's episode after it airs.

I have to wonder if there is some underlying mathematical reason this works. If there is some other logic going on that led to both these series of numbers.
The numbers in Rousseau's message are all the square or prime numbers between 1 and 10 (though out of order) ... hmm ...
Hey wait, I just noticed that this DOESN'T work, because the first two numbers overlap ... eugh ...

so what did you think of this weeks episode? I thought it was interesting to learn more about Kate...and the fact that it WAS her idea to use poison...though the wrong guy got it.
It will be interesting to see what they do next year. Will they simply have a second season with those that did not go on the boat...and have us simply never find out what became of those who went on the raft? Perhaps they will make those on the raft turn back. Though, of all the people on the board, Sawyer is the only one who would really be a loss if he was written off the show. Of course, I can't stand his character...but you really need a character that everyone hates on a show like this. Having the 'mysterious' bad guys in the jungle really isn't enough.
