I'm doing a survey for my AP Statistics class, and i was wondering if you could help me out. I had to pick to things that, were unrelated and try to prove they were dependant on each other. I know Hatrack doesn't like helping with HW, and your not your just providing the data... So answer these two questions if you will.. (feel free to provide your comments on wether or not you think they relate)
1) The ammount of R rated movies you watch in the average month
2) The ammount of times you cuss , in a day (I know cuss is a slang word, but i can't think of th real word)
So for me 1) 0 2)once a day.

2.) That's a toughie. Can I get away with saying, "All the time"? I can swear like a sailor, and it's such a bad habit it comes out in front of my family.

1) 1 or 2 2) Out loud? 20 to 50, I guess. Maybe more. Sometimes less, if I do not talk to anyone that day.

1) 0 to 2 or 3 (I don't watch many movies at all.)
2) I try to keep it to a zero, but sometimes it slips out eg. when someone fails to signal a turn or lane change.

1) 0 2) very small fraction-- I try really hard not to cuss, but when I am sleep deprived, annoyed, and hurt myself repeatedly, if the baby is not in the room a "d" may slip out occasionally. I say "crap", "heck", "gosh", and "dang" much more often, but I'm trying to curb those (as well as "shut up" and "stupid") before Princess picks them up.

0... I just don't swear. Or if I do it's so rarely that it's more like once a week or every two weeks.

2) I say 'damn' a lot, but usually not in public. Probably 1-2 a day does it actually slip out in front of people.

2)About once or twice a day, usually when I hurt myself
9kq, I am much stricter on "shut up" and "stupid" than the occasional "oh, s**t". I hate, hate, HATE to hear people say "shut up".

Swearing is any word, darn* included. Thanks for all the help. For Question 2, a one number answer would be nice because ill have to assign a number value because i have to graph it. Muttering to yourself counts as well

I wouldnt count those words as cuss words. There not the nicest thing to say but I dont consider them as such.

1. 0.2 2. 4-5. I only swear at myself unless something terrible just happened. "Da*n me" and "shut up" are my usual favorites.

1) 2, maybe even more. I don't look up to see if they're R rated or not, I just don't care about it. If I hear it's a good movie, I'll go see it and that's it.
2) 0. And trying to get others to swear less. It's amazing how people can change in the right company!

2) Way more than necessary, needful, or called for. Habit developed when working with roofing/construction/maintenance crews. *tsk. tsk's self sadly*

Question one: three Question two: 30 to ummm...infinity
#2 depends on whether I'm at work (though I admit I dropped the f-word a couple of times today, but today was a bad day,) and how much time I spend on this forum.

1) Probably only two or three at the most. Most of the movies I watch all the way through are PG or PG-13... I guess 2 will work if you need just one number.
2) 0. Swearing = teh devil

1) If I watch 10 movies in a month, probably 7 or 8 of them are rated R. 2) Not quite up to sailor status, but I'm quickly running out of creative alternatives.

1) Around .5; in other words, about one every two months.
2) Depending on what you consider a swear word, around 5.
But keep in mind that you're dealing with a small and self-selected sample here and subjective data, meaning that your survey is going to be largely worthless.

Is anyone else curious if OSC will respond on this thread? *crosses fingers*
1).5
2)Hmm...well, if I am with my best friend who lives out of town, I would venture a guess at 100-500. If he is not around, then I say 0-1 times a day.

1) 0 (I have to admit that if I were a bachelor I'd watch more because I love movies)
2) Hmm. Never the sh-word or the f-word or the d-word or the b-words, but I have my pet euphemisms that I use more than I should.
