Mrs Delphiki was made part Ethiopian in Shadow Puppets because in the original EG short story, proto-Bean is described as a small black kid. When OSC posted the first few chapters of SP on Hatrack for commentary, it came to light that in the novel EG, Bean's nationality isn't mentioned. But Mrs. Delphiki's racial ancestry remained.
That said, I can't remember if she is full or part Ethiopian.

SP, Chapter 4, Page 48 (hard cover edition). āSupposedly Iām Greek, but my motherās mother was an Ibo diplomat, soā¦ when I go to Africa I look quite Greek, and when I go to Greek I look rather African. In my heart I couldnāt care less about eitherā.
