I think post count equals popularity much of the time. We feel like we know the people whose posts we see most often, so people with low post counts just don't get noticed much of the time. It's okay with me; I'm just saying that post count definitely isn't meaningless.

But not all high posters are popular, and not all low posters are invisible. There is, however, a trend in that direction.
