Which Mafia theme would you be more interested in playing? We have a dude on Galactic Cactus leaving on his mission in about a month and he wants to carry the memories of distrust, accusations, and recriminations of Mafia with him to...

where is Greg going?

Okay, we were trying to put together a Mystery Man style mafia, but I think it was confusing to people.

Or, as I'm sure will happen, vote for neither and suggest something you think would be much cooler.

What is this Mafia theme you speak of? Some sort of "Host your own Murder Mystery" type thing?

I'd vote LOST, but I love the show, and think American Idol is trash. I don't fully understand what you're talking about though, so ignore me if you wish [Wink]

We could always play Mafia with Hatrack members. That's always fun.

But if I had to choose, I'd vote American Idol, just because I think it would be more interesting to see their gruesome deaths. And plus, I know everyone on AI.

There was a hatrack mafia, probably 3 games back on Galacticcactus. We didn't have enough people so the mafia kind of killed everyone. Who was the mafia? I can only remember the actual players and not their Hatrack pretend IDs. I played Rivka.

Yes, it is like a murder mystery game where there is a team of murderers and you vote on who to lynch.

AI would be an easy Mafia game to mod, I think. I've never watched Lost, so I can't say on that.

How about a Sopranos' mafia game?
It would make the most sense.

Lost fits the mafia theme extremely well. A portion of the castaways are "Others", and you need to figure out who they are. The others are so good at lying and acting as if they were normal people, it would be an ideal set-up for a mafia game. In fact, it fits the theme of the game much better than the italian mob does. You can generally tell who is not in the mafia. Do they have a nicer house than their job normally would afford? Are they of italian decent? Do they go to parties with other people who fit both one and two? With a Lost theme though, you have no clue who could be an Other, and you actually have that outside of civilization setup which could very well turn into lynchings. Since when has a town lynched a mafia member? Has it ever happened?

I would jump at the chance to play Lost mafia, but I would be bored out of my skull in American Idol mafia. What would the tightly knit group of murderers be? Paula Abdul fanatics? Simon Cowel haters? Eh, if you want your game to be a total farce, and just be an extremely thin comedic setting, that would work okay I guess.

I suppose it depends on what you want the tone of your game to be.

 I agree, but I see how it would get dull.

Alas, I long for the days when I had time at a computer to play mafia. [Frown] Those days are gone.

I still like the idea of design-your-own-superhero mafia. I just can't think of a superhero that would be funny while still being powerful enough to be worth playing.

I need to give it some more thought.

I wish I could play mafia. I miss those days. But with chemo, there's too good a chance I'll miss several days in a row at the computer. That, and I'm starting back to school in two weeks. [Frown]
