Journey was good too, I don't know why Fox suddenly thinks that it is suddenly the decider of what music is good and what isn't.

On an unrelated note, the new CD released by The Wedding totally rocks. And so does the new Haste the Day CD. And I'm really looking forward to the new Project 86 CD.

Edit:

Journey is good. I'm not big on poison. But Journery really are good. They helped define an era of music.

Rush is back. The big hair, fake falsetto heavy metal group that made the 1980s so irrelevant musically sold 84,000 copies for Atlantic Records last week with a new album called "Snakes & Arrows." Never underestimate the low standards of the buying public, I guess. Journey, Poison, shoulder pads and perms shouldn't be too far behind at this rate.
They made the 1980s irrelevant?? Their '80s output was classic. Permanent Waves. Signals. Moving Pictures. It wasn't until 1996 that "Virtuality" was unleashed upon an unwilling public.

quote:
Net boy, net girl
Send your signal 'round the world
Let your fingers walk and talk
And set you free

Net boy, net girl
Send your impulse 'round the world
Put your message in a modem
And throw it in the Cyber Sea

Mmmm. Now that's some good irrelevance. [Wink]

Don't forget Dog Years. A good album musically, though. Apparently Peart need his wife and daughter to die to get him writing good lyrics again.

Too harsh?

"a far cry" from VT? Jeni, did you know what the single was gonna be before the album was released?

------

The album is really great, much better than VT (which was a tough to get into, as others have mentioned). I especially like The Main Monkey Business, Faithless, Hope and The Bravest Face. Waaaaaay cool.

Yeah. Sorry Neal, since I know you read these!

Actually, I understand how that could really hurt the feelings of someone who has lost a loved one. But since I've lost loved ones, don't I have a right? Or is everyone just gonna be super-sensetive about everything?

What am I talking about. It's the Hatrack forums. OF COURSE everyone is gonna get their little feelings hurt!

I think "Dog Years" is a very fun and light-hearted song. I'm surprised how often people put it down; I always enjoy listening to it.

I like the song. Like most of the songs on the CD, I dislkie the lyrics but love the music.

"I'd rather be a tortoise from Galapagos, or a span of geological time."

Like Virtuality, as mentioned above. Lyrics are awful, but then the badassness near the end with the BWaonng...bmp bmp, bippa BWaonng.. ..bippa BWAONNG BWAONNG!!! Duh-duh-duh--dudda duh- dudda-duh-duh, duh-duh-duh- dudda-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM!!!!!

Oh yeah. I'm sorry to anyone who was offended by my callous statement above about Neil's family.

I guess we just have to agree to disagree about how good or not good those lyrics are [Smile]

Has anyone gone to any of the shows yet?

This is somewhat old news, but if anyone is interested in the (general) setlist here it is:

Set 1:

Video Intro

Limelight
Digital Man
Entre Nous
Mission
Freewill
The Main Monkey Business
The Larger Bowl
Secret Touch
Circumstances
Between The Wheels
Dreamline

Intermission

Set 2:

Video Intro

Far Cry
Workin' Them Angels
Armor And Sword
Spindrift
The Way The Wind Blows
Subdivisions
Natural Science
Witch Hunt
Malignant Narcissism
Drum Solo (completely new solo)
Hope
Summertime Blues
The Spirit Of Radio
Tom Sawyer

Encore:

One Little Victory
A Passage to Bangkok
YYZ

I am not too excited. [Frown] How did Summertime Blues get a spot? And I hate, hate, hate Between the Wheels.

Love Between the Wheels and haven't seen it live in over 20 years... and still won't because I'm not going to get to see this tour either.

Plus, the set list has to have some variance in it... a friend of mine who saw them in DC said they played Bravado.

Secret Touch is one of the best songs off Vapor Trails, and may be surpassing Sweet Miracle as my favorite. I *do* so want to see Witch Hunt live again before I die, and The Digital Man was a really cool tune (even if The Analog Kid was the better of the two [Smile] )

True, supposedly the encore has changed from show to show and I also heard that they switched Digital Man with Analog Kid at some places.

Also they apparantly started replacing Summertime Blues with Distant Early Warning at a few shows.
