It's weird - Blair's been Prime Minister since I was twelve years old - so even the phrase 'Prime Minister Brown' sounds weird to me.

Despite my aversion to the war in Iraq, I actually think that Blair has done a pretty good job over all. The nation's more prosperous, public services have improved. It's not perfect, but then, anyone who expects perfection will always be disappointed. So I hope that Iraq doesn't end up being all that people think of, when they remember the last 10 years of government - which have certainly been a lot better for the UK than the decade before (and anyone who says different is an amnesiac).

But it was time for a change.Gordon Brown should do fine - he's somewhat awkward in public, but he's competent. And he's not got the responsibility for Iraq hanging over him, which will help. There seems to be a general mood of optimism about the situation. It’ll be interesting to see how Brown and Bush get on.

Interesting note for those who've seen 'The Queen' - apparently in real life, when you're made PM there's no kneeling and absolutely no kissing of the Queen's hand or any other part of her anatomy. It's actually just a little chat and a cup of tea.

For the next 1.5 years anyway.

I'm already trying to decide which presidential candidate would get along best with GB.

GB = Great Britain.
