So a friend of mine recently invited me to add a new application to my facebook: chess. Now normally I hate facebook apps, most of them are pointless and just clutter up the profiles and are annoying as hell. But this one's awesome. It was made by the folks of chess.com. It doesn't clutter your profile (read: it doesn't add anything to your profile, you access it on its own page) and it allows you to have many different chess games running a turn at a time with your facebook friends. It doesn't really allow for timed games I don't think, the way it seem to work is you log on, make your move in every game you've got going and then wait for your friends to do the same whenever they log on to facebook. It's really fun, you can have a bunch of different games going that you can just check when you're bored.

So I know a bunch of you are on facebook, anyone want to play? If so, check hatrack facebook group, add me as a friend with a request to be added to chess, and I'll send you an invite (if it works, it's still a little buggy). Then game on!

I agree that most of the apps are extremely useless and a waste of space. I'll try and find the hatrack group and send you a request sometime today.

I use the picnik application for editing photos because it has some different editing choices than the other free programs I have. It just has one little link on my profile page, and adds edited pics to albums.

No apps. I refuse. They're evil and obnoxious.

I agree with you mostly, but this one's really cool. It's basically just using facebook's social network to allow you to play online chess with your friends.

There is a scrabble app like that which I am enjoying greatly. Sadly I do not know how to play chess though.

Found an easier way to add chess to your facebook (can you tell I've avoided applications like the plague until now?):

Click on the big bold Applications header in the left sidebar. Click browse applications near the top. Search for chess, click on it in the search, click add this application in the right side bar near the top. Then come challenge me [Big Grin]

Oye, you are considerably better than me, Shigosei. You've been a step ahead of me this entire game! If I win, it'll be a minor miracle [Smile]

I feel dirty. I've got mate in one move at this point. I don't think there's any way out of it. You made one mistake the entire game and it turned it around. I should have lost... we'll have to rematch some time, and you can solidly trounce me as you were going to.
