I wasn't really planning to buy a pet canary yesterday. It just kind of happened.
He's very small, completely white with black eyes and has a beautiful (loud) song which he's been singing all day. Apart from the singing, his main hobbies seem to be taking baths and throwing his food on the floor. He seems happy.
I have kept budgies and currently have a cockatiel (which I'm keeping in another part of the house so he doesn't attack the newbie). But I've never had a canary before, so I wondering if there's anything about them I should know?
Also, I need name suggestions, please! I don't have a clue what to call him.

Wow, I love Sylvester. That's a definite maybe. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I love canaries. Every time I go into a pet store that has them, I just go stand by the cages and listen for a while. It would be nice to get one someday.
Is he very messy? We had finches for a while, and they were the messiest birds I've ever had.
