It's gotten displayed prominently at the local bookstores and libraries, with promises that this is "The next great epic...George R.R. Martin gave up writing after one look at this...it makes The Golden Compass look like Morris the Moose Goes to School...this book increased my upper body strength -and- restored my enjoyment of fantasy!"
With hype like that, I'm almost scared to read it.
Has anyone given it a try?

I thought it was quite entertaining and enjoyable but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece. Also, it's a bit of a young adult book, and not everyone likes that.
