Looks interesting. For some reason I thought it might be based on a book, but looking around online I guess not.

What genre is this? The trailer seemed to jump between different plots.

--j_k, who knew exactly one thing about that film before watching the trailer

There was definitely a book called Black Swan about assumptions getting thrown out the window when we encounter something totally new like the black swans in New Zealand.

Ah the telltale violent and morbidly dangerous world of ballet.

Dunno, but any movie with Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman making out can't be bad... right?

... Right?

Thats what I thought about Natalie Portman as a stripper in Closer, but me and my girlfriend (who had a crush on Portman at the time) walked out during the stripper scene.

What bugs me is that the other ballerina is clearly meant to look like Natalie (not sure exactly where they're going with that, but whatever). For a while I've been wanting to see a movie with both Natalie Portman and Kiera Knightly, and this should have been it.

I saw this film yesterday and it was fabulous.

Definitely "viewer discretion advised" due to the sexual stuff, but personally, I thought it was tastefully done. That is...it was relevant to the film.

Barbara Hershey's performance in particular is fantastically terrifying. [Smile]

For the past few months, I honestly thought you were joking and didn't bother looking it up. Someone else finally said it with a straight face and then showed me IMDB. My mind was blown.

Wow... Mine too. I didn't know that either. Not to get too off topic, but Sofia Coppola was another one of Amidala's handmaidens as well.

Just wanted to point out, in case it matters, that Glenn Arnold was in fact me.
