The United States is older than the United Kingdom.
The Acts of Union in 1707 merged the Kingdom and England and Kingdom of Scotland into the Kingdom of Great Britain.
The Acts of Union in 1800 merged the Kingdom of Great Britain and Kingdom of Ireland into the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
Today, as per Irish Independence, it stands as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Island.
The United Kingdom got its name from US.
