Charlie was clearly lying through his teeth when he said he wasn't aware of the rule, and Rick is a joke for refusing to come out like a petty child. Walk out, make a point about Charlie not being able to follow the simple rules on an agreement (or better yet, don't even bring it up) and start the debate.

Whose idea was it to put 'no fans' in the agreement anyways and what's the point?

I don't even want to vote for a governor because both candidates suck so hard. [Grumble]

There wasn't a "No fans" rule. It was a "No electronics" rule. And since fans use electricity, Rick said Charlie was breaking the rules.

Petty and stupid on Ricks part really. I mean, ITS A DAMN FAN. It's not like it is going to feed him lines during the debate.

Our conclusion

Did the rules of the debate say there should be no fan? Yes, they did.

The rules stated that candidates could not bring electronic devices and even specified fans. The Scott campaign signed that agreement, while a lawyer for Crist wrote an addition to the agreement that it was "with understanding that the debate hosts will address any temperature issues with a fan if necessary."

There was no agreement on who would decide if that fan was necessary or the criteria.

While the Crist campaign repeatedly asked for fans and was told they could have them if needed, the event’s organizers said the night of the debate that a fan wasn’t necessary. The Crist campaign put the fan out anyway.
