Don't knock this sale because of the small pay. This is an extremely reputable anthology. I know many excellent writers who got passed up for this. Congrats. Really. Wow.

Rahl, I have no idea how you could get the impression that I was knocking this sale. First, it's a sale. Second, they liked my story. Third, it's an editor I have respect for. Fourth, it's the most money I've been paid to date for a story. Fifth, it's a sale and they liked my story.
I'm also tremendously excited because the letter says, "I or Susan will be in touch with you some time in early summer to make a few editorial suggestions," which means that I get to work with a real, live editor! One of the things I am constantly looking for as a performer is someone who can push me to be better--that's what this chance is for me as a writer.

hahaha Mary. No no, I didn't think you were knocking the sale. I guess I was just adding emphasis for anyone else who stumbled across this announcement and didn't know about this particular anthology.

Thanks! And especially to Minister and his lovely wife, who treated me to lunch the day after I got the news. They're nice folks and it was fun to share the excitement with fellow writers.

The real treat was in getting to meet MaryRobinette in person. Turns out she's as quality a person as she is a writer. And it looks like that's saying something.
