Heh! My first sale ever was to IGMS as well. It's an awesome feeling, isn't it? Congratulations!

Chuck - that's actually a really funny story. This is my story from boot camp. After everyone finished telling me all the things I'd done wrong and tearing it to pieces, OSC looked at me and said something like, "Here's proof that even a publishable story doesn't have to be perfect. Any editor would be an idiot not to snap this up if it crossed his desk."
I didn't think he was serious, so he kept going: "No really, I was talking to Edmund about this over breakfast. We want it for IGMS. But you can send it somewhere else first, like WotF and I won't be offended."
Um, hello?? I said yes on the spot. (And then I sat on the news for six months because I still didn't quite believe it was happening until the check came in the mail! :-P )

Now get a story into Q02 WOTF and rep Hatrack with a winner. IGMS pub will look sweet on your author bio.

I brainstormed the idea there during the workshop phase. Bringing in preconceived story ideas sort of defeats the purpose of the boot camp experience. But I did rewrite the ending after boot camp - my original ending was written at 2 A.M. after I'd been writing for pretty much 24 straight hours. Um, nuff said, really.
