Call for submissions by NewBBay.com, contest rules, submission guidelines, and details.

The prize pool is $5,000
1st Place: $2,400.00
2nd Place: $1,200.00
3rd Place: $600.00
4th Place: $500.00
5th Place: $300.00

Entry deadline is a minute shy of midnight Pacific Standard Time, 15 August 2016.

Entrants must register at the site to enter submissions for the contest.

Note, NewBBay reserves contest winners' exclusive digital copyrights for a six-year term and at fifty percent revenue rights ownership. No mention of reprint rights for the interim, though, presumably, other publication royalty revenue likewise for the six-year term follows a fifty-fifty writer winner-NewBBay split.

Also, the index page linked above does not express any type of prompt or slant for the publication nor science fiction category. The wild blue yonder sky and beyond is that limit.

Six year *exclusive* distribution rights (note, not copyright) is a pretty big red flag to me and so is the language around "ownership". That's a *very* long time for exclusive distribution. While it's also not a contract, the broad term "distribution" rights also worries me. You might be giving up all kinds of rights for six years. In fairness, the contract offered for winning will probably be different, but the wording is a real flag. Note that the SFWA model contract mentions six months exclusivity.

It may or may not be a legitimate competition, but I'd suggest doing serious due diligence if you want to enter.
