I just had to share this with you guys. After nearly 2.5 years, I finally finished my first book. It's a whopper at 188,000 words, but that can be tightened up in the 2nd draft.

Wow, it feels AWESOME to have that beast over with... Of course, that only means I'll have to tackle book 2, but that can wait for another day.

CONGRATULATIONS!

That great feeling is probably the best holiday gift you could get. And you gave it to yourself.

Hope your editing takes less time, and good luck with number 2.

Did you treat yourself???

Way to go! It's a great feeling. Take a break, do something else you enjoy and then on to the joys of editing. Best of luck.

Thank you one and all for the grats. It's truly been a long freakin' haul with this book. Not sure how I'll manage to trim it, but maybe when it stops being my baby... by that time, I'll prolly be ready to start Bk 2 ('course, I have NO idea what I want to happen for Bk 2 anyway).

Hildy, absolutely! Your feedback is world class, spot on-- I truly couldn't consider it finished til I have your blessing. What's the last thing I sent you and I will send you the rest.

Sili

Um... I think she got it...

Now the problem is seeing if it's any good. Or publishable. The latter being more important than the former if you want to be practical about it.

No, cheers are always welcome...! I knew you guys more than most would appreciate the tremendous feeling of relief and accomplishment. My friends are mostly, "oh. that's cool." You guys KNOW what it means to bleed a novel/story out.

And actually, even if it's not publishable-- I still like it, and I still get to say, I FINISHED IT. That's worth more than anything.

Not that I'm not going to try to get it published... LOL.

We're all here for you in the attempt to move to that stage, each in our own way. My way mostly involving lots of unnecessarily cruel laughter
