A writing experiment.
Take some of these headlines and write them in a quick scene or situation where they are totally logical based on how they are written.
example: A colony where the natives are trees that walk around slowly and have some intelligence. A painting is stolen, and one of the trees, a native, finds the painting....
Just giving you a thought for ideas for writing, to get you out of your normal mindeset.

Newspaper headlines tend to create double meanings when space consciousness truncates complete sentences, absents articles and particles, and uses passive voice, sometimes minus subject doer. Most of the above examples are double entendres, purposeful double meanings that arouse curiosity and humor. They also tend to be interjection phrases, rather than prose's narrative titles' noun and noun phrases. Inculsion of a predicate verb makes newspaper headlines interjection phrases.

There are whole books full of these things. Jay Leno used to have a series of them. Found humor.

Farmer Bill Dies in House
Squad Helps Dog Bite Victim
Officer Wise to Retire From Force

I'll haul out a few more examples, maybe, soon as I find my books.
