Welcome to this week's Novel Support Group (NSG). Anyone can join. If you're new, tell us a bit about who you are and what project you are working on. Feel free to update the NSG Work in Progress thread with your current projects. Although we can report on any number of things, here is a list of suggestions (suggestions welcomed).

  • What were your goals last week and did you accomplish them?
  • Describe what you worked on.
  • Set goals for next week.
  • Did you learn something during this week?

Here is a list of things that you can do each week as we work on our novels (suggestions welcomed).

  • Writing on a novel
  • Characterization
  • World Building
  • Relevant research

Last Week's Goals

Still reading. It's been a LONG time since I just sat and read as much as I have now. The last book I read (600+ pages long) only took me a week and a half to read. Some may think that's slow but with everything I normally have in life such a book can take me a month or more to finish. Having too much fun.

My goals for next week:

  • Read

Continue reading. Maybe look at some outlines. Maybe.

What did I learn this week?

Still nothing.

Nothing.

But if I'm to succeed in November, I have to get outlining...

I'm just so sick of sitting in this chair from work, I have nothing left to write with. Need to switch my perception.

Last Week's Goals:

MAGIC'S FOOL (Working Title): Finish Chapter 4. At least start Chapter 5.
Yep. Finished Chapter 5, as a matter of fact.

MAGE STORM: Start making some revisions to chapters 2 and 3. Really.
Barely.

SEVEN STARS: Incorporate critiques, make a couple of other changes, and then shut it down for a few months.
Yes.

BLOOD WILL TELL: Send out two more queries.
Nope. In fact, I've decided not to keep querying this one. I'm going to wait to hear from the agent who currently has a full ms. If the answer is no again, then I'm going to e-pub it and move on. I've already started playing around with a possible cover.

BLOOD IS THICKER: Write Chapters 6 and 7.
Chapter 6, yes, just started Chapter 7.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.
Yes, again. Although I almost forgot to blog on Wednesday.

Next Week's Goals:

On the Shelf:
THE IGNORED PROPHECY
DREAMER'S ROSE

MAGIC'S FOOL (Working Title):
Chapter 6.

MAGE STORM:
Revisions to chapters 2 and 3. Really.

SEVEN STARS:
Let it rest.

BLOOD WILL TELL:
More playing with the cover art. Possibly start another polishing edit.

BLOOD IS THICKER:
Write Chapters 7 and 8.

OTHER:
Update my blog twice a week.

Revised my 5 scenes (by the skin of my teeth), and got my word count to 116k

Next week, the scenes get shorter, so my goal is to revise 7.

It's been an interesting week. I got some feedback on my previous revisions, and my gut reaction was no way, it's completely different than what I was going for. Then I thought about it some more, and realized it could be just what I need to make the book stronger. Unfortunately, it'll mean a lot of extra work on a character I thought I was done with. *Sigh*. I think I'll try it after I'm done with my current character, but keep the old version just in case.
